Pharmacology and pharmacokinetics functions of the product
Cartigen Forte is combination of high-strength pharmaceutical grade glucosamine, chondroitin sulphate, methyl sulfonyl methane, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Glucosamine acts as a fundamental building block for the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans, hyaluronate, and proteoglycans, which are important for collagen synthesis, degradation of which lead to the disease termed as osteoarthritis (OA). Moreover, glucosamine sulfate exhibits anti-inflammatory and chondroprotective actions and thus has been shown to alleviate pain and even restore or stimulate articular cartilage formation in patients with damaged cartilages in affected joints with osteoarthritis.
Chondroitin sulphate is natural glycosaminoglycan, present in the extracellular matrix of the resilient cartilage tissues. Apart from that it reduces the formation of pro-inflammatory cytokines and pro-inflammatory enzymes, such as phospholipase A2, cyclooxygenase 2 (COX – 2) and nitric oxide synthase. It also exhibits chondroprotective properties. Studies have shown that combined action of glucosamine sulphate and chondroitin sulphate has been shown to delay radiological progression of osteoarthritis.
Methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM) is a naturally occurring Sulphur compound found in minimal quantities in food and human blood, Methyl sulfonyl methane improves lubrication, cartilage synthesis, and reduces inflammation. It provides essential Sulphur, which is used by the chondrocytes for the formation of proteins and collagen (connective tissue). It has powerful antioxidant action and has been shown to exert analgesic and anti-inflammatory actions as well.
Minerals and vitamins provide antioxidant action to reduce inflammation to the joint and supply necessary vitamins, which are the key components of cartilage tissues.
Dosage and administration
One tablet twice a day or as directed by the physician. Swallow with a glass of water, not to be chewed. Do not exceed the recommended intake.
Contraindications
