It acts as precursor in the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans of hyaluronic acid, which are part of the ground substance of articular cartilage. Exogenously administrated glucosamine increases the formation of proteoglycans in the cartilage and inhibits the degradation of cartilage. Long-term studies indicate that Glucosamine inhibits the degradation of articular cartilage, probably by inhibition of the catabolic enzymes. Clinical studies have shown that glucosamine relieves pain after 4 weeks of treatment and improves mobility of the affected joints in patients with mild to moderate osteoarthritis<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"product-desc-subtitle-moh\"><strong>Dosage and administration<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"product-desc-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">One tablet a day after meals or as directed by the physician. Swallow with a glass of water. Not to be chewed. Do not exceed the recommended intake.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"product-desc-subtitle-moh\"><strong>Contraindications<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"product-desc-text\">Contraindicated in individuals who are allergic to any of the ingredients in this product.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"product-desc-subtitle-moh\"><strong>Side effects<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"product-desc-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Abdominal pain, gastric discomfort, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhea and nausea. Further headache, fatigue, ski itching, and erythema are reported. The reported reactions were mild and usually transient.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"product-desc-subtitle-moh\"><strong>Warning &amp; Precautions<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"product-desc-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Patients should consult a physician to exclude the presence of joint diseases, in which treatment of other conditions should also be considered. Precaution should be recommended, when treating patients with diabetes mellitus. Close monitoring of the blood glucose levels may be necessary the initiation of the treatment. Precaution is recommended, if glucosamine is administered in combination with other medicinal products, since no interaction data available.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"product-desc-subtitle-moh\"><strong>Interactions<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"product-desc-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The effect of glucosamine on the pharmacokinetics of any other medical products are unknown.
