Vitamin D3, in its activated form promotes absorption of calcium from the intestine, decreases the excretion of calcium and maintains calcium homeostasis. Magnesium, one of the trace elements required for optimal utilization and cellular transport of calcium, is also essential for muscle contraction, nerve conduction and membrane integrity. Magnesium, along with calcium and phosphorus are required for the structural formation of bones and teeth constituting the mineral reserve of both. Zinc is also an essential trace mineral required for the optimal utilization of calcium, which acts as a cofactor for many metallo enzymes involved in the formation of organic matrix and collagen, the base material for bones and other connective tissues. Although the diet offers all ingredients physiologically, overall, these are insufficient to meet the daily needs, thus there is need for supplementation with Supracal.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"product-desc-subtitle-moh\"><strong>Dosage and administration<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"product-desc-text\">One tablet a day or as directed by the physician. Swallow with a glass of water. Not to be chewed. Increased risk of hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria is observed in hypo parathyroid patients on high doses of vitamin D. People with calcium-containing kidney stone and myasthenia gravis should avoid calcium supplements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"product-desc-text\">People with myasthenia gravis should avoid calcium supplements.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"product-desc-subtitle-moh\"><strong>Interactions<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"product-desc-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The concurrent use of Supracal D along with tetracyclines, quinolones and oral biphosphates may reduce their absorption. There is an increased risk of hypercalcemia and metabolic alkalosis with thiazide diuretics. Calcium may interfere with the absorption of alendronate used to treat osteoporosis. When administered with aluminum-containing antacids, the amount of aluminum absorbed into the blood may increase significantly. Loop diuretics (such as furosemide and bumetanide) can decrease calcium levels. During treatment with antibiotic gentamicin may increase the potential for toxic effects on the kidneys.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"product-desc-subtitle-moh\"><strong>Usage in pregnancy &amp; lactation<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"product-desc-text\">The product might be safe when used in recommended doses during pregnancy and lactation.
